Advanced PVC-coated polyester membranes combining controlled biaxial stabilization, integrated yarn protection and multi-layer surface technology for demanding permanent tensile architecture.

Architectural Membranes Engineered for Reliability.

Engineered for Performance. Designed for Precision.

PreFormX® represents FPC's premium PVC architectural membrane platform, developed to meet the demanding mechanical, dimensional and environmental requirements of permanent tensile structures.

Combining controlled biaxial stabilization, high-tenacity polyester reinforcement, multi-layer PVC coating and bilateral modified PVDF surface protection, PreFormX® brings together the technologies required for consistent membrane performance.

At the heart of the collection is an integrated engineering approach that addresses how the fabric behaves under tension, how it responds to prolonged environmental exposure and how its surface maintains architectural appearance.

The collection also incorporates TensiDry®, FPC's integrated low-wick yarn protection technology, developed to limit capillary moisture migration within the textile reinforcement.

Available across five mechanical grades, from Type I to Type V, PreFormX® provides architects, structural engineers and specialist membrane fabricators with a range of material options for different structural and design requirements.

Key Engineering Advantages

Biaxial Stabilization

Controlled tension during coating to manage warp/fill mechanical balance and dimensional behavior.

TensiDry® Yarn Protection

Integrated low-wick filament protection is designed to reduce moisture migration within the reinforcement.

Multi-Layer Coating

Engineered PVC coating architecture incorporating TiO₂-based UV stabilization.

Bilateral PVDF Protection

Modified PVDF lacquer on both membrane surfaces for exterior surface performance.

Dimensional Precision

Grade-specific elongation characteristics for engineering and prestress assessment.

Optical & Solar Performance

Documented visible-light, solar-reflectance and solar-factor properties.

A. Controlled biaxial stabilization

Controlled Where It Matters Most.

PreFormX® applies controlled biaxial tension during the coating stage, where the interaction between the textile reinforcement and coating system influences the finished membrane's dimensional behavior.

This process is designed to support balanced warp/weft mechanical properties, controlled elongation, reduced residual deformation and reliable membrane geometry under the specified loading conditions.

The architectural benefit: greater predictability when designing and fabricating prestressed tensile structures.

B. TensiDry® — integrated low-wick yarn protection

Protection Begins Within the Yarn.

Moisture migration within textile reinforcement can influence the appearance and long-term condition of coated architectural fabrics, particularly around exposed edges and fabricated details.

TensiDry® integrates fluorocarbon-based protection within the polyester yarn system, rather than relying exclusively on surface-applied treatment.

Developed to limit capillary moisture migration, this technology adds another level of protection within the PreFormX® membrane construction.

Integrated at Filament Level. Engineered for Long-Term Protection.

C. Multi-layer protection architecture

Advanced Protection. Layer by Layer.

The PreFormX® construction combines several complementary material technologies.

  1. 01Bilateral Modified PVDF LacquerProtective surface finishing on both sides of the membrane.
  2. 02UV-Stabilized PVC CoatingPVC coating formulation incorporating TiO₂ reinforcement.
  3. 03High-Tenacity Polyester ReinforcementEngineered textile base providing grade-specific mechanical strength.
  4. 04TensiDry® Filament ProtectionLow-wick yarn technology integrated within the reinforcement.
  5. 05Controlled Biaxial StabilizationManufacturing control supporting defined dimensional characteristics.
